We respect rights holders
GateCrate is built for artists, so we take copyright seriously in both directions. Artists promise they have the rights to everything they gate (our Acceptable Use Policy), and if your work has ended up behind a gate it shouldn’t, here’s how to get it taken down fast.
Reporting infringing content
Send a notice to our copyright agent at copyright@gatecrate.com with enough for us to act. Please include:
- Your name and contact details, and who you represent if you’re acting for someone.
- The work you say is infringed — a link or clear description.
- The GateCrate gate or page where it appears (the full URL).
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised.
- A statement that the information is accurate and that you’re the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Filing a knowingly false claim can carry legal liability, so only report what you genuinely believe infringes your rights.
What we do with a valid notice
When a notice checks out, we suspend the affected gate or track promptly and let the artist know what was flagged and why. We suspend rather than delete, so nothing is lost if the complaint is later withdrawn or successfully challenged — and suspended content drops out of the public charts straight away.
If you think we got it wrong (counter-notice)
If your content was taken down and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to copyright@gatecrate.com with:
- Your name and contact details.
- The content that was removed and where it was.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury where applicable, that you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.
- Your signature.
We’ll pass it to the original complainant. If they don’t escalate to a legal claim within a reasonable period, we may reinstate the content.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly gate content they don’t have the rights to will be suspended and, for persistent abuse, closed. Questions about this process can go to legal@gatecrate.com.
